About the Assignment

We are looking for a senior project manager who will take overall responsibility for planning and driving an upcoming procurement related to heavy maintenance of rail vehicles. The assignment is conducted in an organization with high demands on quality, delivery precision, and long-term sustainability, where maintenance efforts are crucial to ensure continued operation and regulatory compliance.

You will work closely with the vehicle manager and internal procurement functions, playing a key role in creating structure, ensuring progress, and following up on suppliers' commitments during the establishment phase.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare procurement documents based on established templates and processes for heavy maintenance.
  • Conduct market analysis of suppliers and plan and hold market dialogues.
  • Project manage the execution of the procurement together with the vehicle manager and relevant support functions.
  • Plan and drive evaluations and contribute to award decisions.
  • Ensure that contracts are signed with the selected supplier.
  • Actively participate in the establishment phase to ensure that the supplier follows the implementation plan and that the start-up occurs as planned.
  • Lead, drive, and follow up on issues, including contract and supplier follow-up.
  • Project manage according to established project management methodologies and internal routines.
Requirements
  • Technical university degree or equivalent relevant work experience (over 5 years).
  • Project management training and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Documented experience in project management within refurbishment and/or maintenance of rail vehicles.
  • Documented experience of working according to established project management methodologies.
  • Experience in procurement.
  • Good knowledge of the industry and its market conditions.
  • Broad technical competence (generalist) within complex technical systems with long lifespans (approximately 5–20 years).
  • Understanding of complex systems' life cycles and the need for maintenance, operation, and management over time.
  • Experience in leading, driving, and following up on issues.
  • Strong ability and experience in contract work and follow-up of supplier requirements.
  • Very good Swedish and English skills in speech and writing.
Meritorious
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience in procurement according to LOU/LUF.
  • Experience in leading negotiations.
  • Basic knowledge of railway technology.
  • Experience in supplier management in a purchasing role.
  • Experience in initiating and driving investigations.
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance.
  • Experience/knowledge of the rail vehicle type Itino.
  • Experience and understanding of working with the management of rail vehicles within publicly funded operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, requirements, and guidelines.
